RLWC SOCIAL IMPACT REPORT HOSTED BY PORTICO

Today the Rugby League World Cup 2021 celebrated the publication of its interim social impact report at……you guessed it, little old Portico Vine.

Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Nadine Dorries was welcomed into our new clubhouse alongside;

Chris Brindley, Chair of the RLWC2021

Jon Dutton, CEO of the RLWC2021

Tracy Power, Social Impact Director

Marc Lovering, Director of Participation and Development at RFL

Tracy Herd, Ahead of the Game

Colin Moore, CreatedBy Lead

Jodie Cunningham, Paul Sculthorpe and Zoe Harris amongst other invited guests.

The event showcased the trailblazing positive impact that the RLWC2021 programmes have had even before the tournament begins.

Following the formalities, a fun rugby related session was hosted by Craig Richards and Reese Wilks from Saints Community Development Team to local school children (need to add bit more).

What an honour and privilege for our club to have been selected to host this special event!

Sincere thanks go out to Ian and Sue Skerry, Sue Sharrock and Jill Finney who have been working really hard ensuring the building was fit for purpose. To Catherine Manweiler for baking some treats for our special guests.

Huge thanks to Tracey Leung Fullerton, Karen Smith, Alex Manweiler, Angela Thomas (fellow baker) and Billy Vaughan who have assisted me on the planning and were invited by the RLWC2021 team to attend in person today and be part of the event, representing the whole club. Billy was even invited to speak and, as expected, boy did he deliver. A fantastic speech that will be shared in the coming days.
