Askam 14 vs 8 Portico Panthers
A 2 hour coach trip was what the lads at Portico had to endure to play this week's fixture. On arrival, the lads were looking forward to a top of the table clash with the new entrants Askam.
The coach journey seemed to effect a couple of the lads physically at the start of the match but dug deep to fight for the cause. They started off on the back foot with conceding 2 tries, one which was 'a close call' to being a try. The lads battled hard with a strong defensive line and found themselves pushing hard to get back in the game. Right on half time they almost pulled a try back but were halted by the half time whistle. Second half the lads came out with great determination and got 2 tries on the board, either side of a third 'close call' try for Askam.
On the final whistle all of Portico were deflated as they just fell short of an amazing comeback.
We couldn't be more proud of each and every single lad as they all fought valiantly in a difficult situation.
We look forward to the return fixture in 2 weeks.
