Last night, club members were made aware of the resignation of Head Coach, Gaz Friar and his immediate departure from our club.
The senior committee have today activated article 5, Section F, of the club constitution and unanimously agreed that Anthony Rotherham will become the clubs Head Coach until next years AGM.
Those heavily involved in the club, will already be acutely aware that Anthony has led from the front during our Covid recovery plan and the title will not change his full commitment to the U16s nor the current volume of time he already commits. Anthony is very well respected by all coaching staff and has the loyal support of his wife Diane.
Anthony will be further supported by members of the senior committee, the sub committee and his fellow coaches. Therefore, as he will have so much support, the role of deputy head coach will remain vacant until next years AGM. Again this was another unanimous decision of the senior committee.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the committee members of the North West Counties who have provided the club with regular support over the last 36 hours. With their approval, I can also confirm, the vacant U18s head coach role will be filled by Ste Connelly until the end of the season. Ste is another very well respected and highly thought of volunteer and will be supported by fellow coaches.
Gaz has been thanked separately and personally but I reiterate our gratitude for his time as a volunteer.
I am delighted that Anthony and Ste have stepped up without hesitation to ensure the children are unaffected by developments.
My final thanks extend to Vice Chairman, Billy Vaughan, for his assistance throughout last night and continued support this morning.
