VOLUNTERS NEEDED!

Calling all young persons 14+ who would like to learn some new skills that will be certified by City and Guilds and recognised by colleges and further educational bodies?

Portico Vine are joining forces with the Nationally acclaimed ‘Volunteer-It-Yourself’ project team. Volunteer It Yourself. We have agreed an exciting four week project funded by the club (via our recent lotto bingo), Sport England and the VIY team.

It will commence on Monday 19th October at Scholes Lane playing fields, WA10 3PD and conclude on Friday 13th November. It will be inclusive of every weekend within that date range and the school half term holidays.

We will have the option for interested parties to get involved throughout with a maximum of 4 willing participants per day.

The project will provide the opportunities for young people to be mentored, assessed and certificated against several skills including painting and decorating, health and safety, joinery and other specialised trades as they complete a full transform of our clubhouse ready for next season. There will be no classroom elements as it’s all ‘on the job’ learning. Suitable for both beginners and anybody with experience.

Both the club and VIY will be providing two mentors each who will guide, assist and support the young people through the process.

A full Covid-19 risk assessment has been completed by both the club and VIY. PPE will be provided. As with everything at the moment, it is subject to any changes in legislation from local or national government due to the ongoing pandemic.

If you are interested, please can you send me nominations and preferable dates before close of play on Friday 16th October.

I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to vice chairman Billy Vaughan and Ben Fisher from VIY who have been instrumental in providing our young people with this opportunity.
