This evening the club are delighted to reveal the latest pieces of our OneTeamOneDream jigsaw have been put into place.
With a combined total of over 60 years connected to the club, we are delighted to share the news that both Tony Peers and Stewart Meechan have accepted invitations to join our Sub Committee.
Their passion, energy, commitment and return to a more active role alongside our current crop of selfless volunteers, fits perfectly into our desire to retain our roots as we drive into the future.
Upon accepting the offer, Tony stated,
“It is an honour as I’ve always been passionate about Portico as I was brought up round there and my children were born there. I’ve played for Saints in my younger days from leaving school until I was 23. I’ve played for Thatto Heath who are very successful but my greatest memories and passion will always be Portico Vine Panthers.
From nowhere we became a club to be respected and now to see all our dreams become reality is really overwhelming to me and I can only say thank you to you and everyone involved and long live our dream.”
Upon accepting his position, Stewart, the son of founding member, the late Robbie Meechan stated,
“It’s was a pleasure to meet the Senior Committee recently. They are such a strong group of people, leading and driving the club to greater successes.
It’s very warming that they are so passionate about the humble begingings and hearing that the legacy of my Dad will live on. From my first day at Scholes Lane as an eight year old to getting back involved, the club will always have a very special place in my heart.
I’m honoured to accept this position. It’s one I hope I can add value to during these exciting times ahead.”
