NEW ROLE APPOINTMENTS AND CHAIRMAN U TURN ON DECISION

Today the club have appointed Diane Rotherham into a new role of ‘Clubhouse Manager.’ Di has been involved with the club for many years lending a hand wherever she could and will now oversee the running of the clubhouse. Whilst continuing to ensure our kitchen standards are kept to their current high levels, she will further support volunteers, progress suggested new ideas, carry out stock management and be the pivotal link between our Maintenance and Events Teams.

It also gives me great pleasure to also announce that Karen Smith has been appointed as new temporary Vice Chair pending formal standing at next years AGM. This follows the decision of Billy Vaughan to stand down with immediate effect. It is a role that I believe she will flourish in and will offer new ideas, suggestions and thoughts. Her almost permanent residence in the clubhouse will offer me lots of support and hopefully speed up key decisions thus supporting the club drive forward.

We’ve seen quite a few U-Turns in recent months by this Government.

So in keeping with that and following the appointment of Di and Karen and seeing first hand the Community Hub gathering momentum everyday with a bespoke group of volunteers, having reflected, I make a U-Turn on my decision to stand down.

Coupled with this amended structure is the reflection of what we have all created, in many different guises and put bluntly, I want us to continue the journey together. We have a very special club here and that has been created by volunteers, coaches, players, sponsors and supporters. I am now extremely confident that I can continue to offer my services albeit the rule of family, work, club remains unchanged.

A much better structure as outlined and my concerns of being unable to manage the demands from the new clubhouse, support our people and not letting anyone down, has subsided significantly.

I’m really sorry for the mixed messaging and period of uncertainty. I hope this puts it to bed.

Billy will focus his time and efforts on the Community Hub, supporting the phenomenal team being led by Jo Norton.

Following Billy’s resignation, a new lead childwelfare officer will be appointed shortly when the team have chance to consult and nominate.
