Portico Panthers 22 vs 20 Wigan St Pats

The Panthers welcomed St. Pats to Scholes Lane on Sunday . The away side is helping to raise awareness for World Downs Syndrome Day by all the lads, coaches, and families wearing odds socks, which Portico was more than happy to help out with.

The game started very evenly, which was a mark of things to come for the full game. Panthers were first on the score sheet but couldn't hold onto the lead for long with St. Pats coming ɓack strong with 2 of their own tries before the end of the half.

In the second half, St. Pats added to their lead, leaving the home side a bit of a mountain to climb but they managed to fight as a team and pulled into the lead only for St Pats to strike back immediately and retake the lead within the dying minutes. There was time left on the clock for 1 final set for Portico to attempt to get their noses back in front, which after an amazing run from Warren Tracey who then passed the ball to his team mate Lewis Parle who was sprinting next to him and scored under the sticks allowing Michael McGowan to kick for the victory on the final whistle.

It was a really enthralling game to watch with neither team deserving to lose. The team stood together as one unit, which was fantastic to see! I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few aches and pains in the morning 😂
