Widnes Moorfield Tigers V Portico Vine Panthers u12s
Clear skies with heat and humidity was forecast for today and that's what we got 🥵. This was the reverse fixture of the first game of the season in which the Tigers ran out close winners. Determined to flip the score line we had been working on our defensive line and tackling to try and keep the opposition out.
Come 5 minutes in though it seemed to all gone in one ear and out the other🙈. Tigers ran in 2 quick tries with one of them being converted. This seemed to wake the lads up who decided they were going to defend a bit harder and their offensive game started to light up. Strong runs from Issac, Warren and Tyler gained valuable field position and a little bit of trickery from the backs got us in good try scoring positions. Anthony managed to barge over for his first try of the season and Tyler side stepped his way through for a second of the half. Both conversions were missed which left it 16-8 to Moorfield. Second half meant the lads were playing down hill which they were all happy with🥵. Immediately we got another try with Max going over but Moorfield stretched the gap with another couple of tries. It went back and forth try scoring from both teams for the middle part of the half with Mckenzie getting over the line but still no converted kicks. With 5 minutes to go Panthers were down by 10 and seemed to running on empty but Warren made a quick brace and with Will converting the first it meant it was all square just before the final whistle with Kieron lining up the conversion attempt. 10meters in from the touch line it sailed through the posts and the Panthers clutched a win from the jaws of defeat. Great result from the lads and everyone chipped in with some great tackling.
Special mention for Jack Jackson who was on his debut on the wing. Fantastic attitude and looks a star for the future
