Woolston Rovers 14 vs Portico Panthers 42
After their first defeat last week in the last 4 games, the Panthers were looking to get back into winning ways. An away trip to Woolston provided a strong opposition as the lads were out gunned in the reverse fixture earlier in the year. With a strong line up the lads were fired up for this one from the start.
With some aggressive tackling they managed to surprise Woolston and ran in some well created tries. Once again the passing from Dummy Half and the distribution from the 2 Half Backs created space for the strong running of the forwards and also speed and change of direction of the backs. It was truly great to see even if I had to watch it from the middle of the pitch! Half time came and the score was 20 nil to the visitors.
The second half was much in the same vain at the start with Portico running in a couple more tries. Complacency kicked in slightly as they let Woolston come back at them with 3 well worked tries and would of almost been a 4th but the Woolston player lost it on the line. After getting their heads back in the game, the lads got a couple more tries on the board before the final whistle.
Final score Woolston 14 v Portico 42.
This was a great result and performance from the lads which hopefully will spur them on for next week for the visit of Askam where they are looking for revenge!
